Rediscover the life you promised yourself
Author shows readers how to uncover their life’s purpose

TAMPA, Fla. –- With over 75 percent of employees looking for a new job, according to a Harris Interactive poll, it’s obvious many Americans are looking for change in their life. Although the United States once ranked first in the world in happiness, it now ranks 23rd among industrialized nations, according to the AARP. With so many Americans reporting dissatisfaction with their career and personal lives, one must wonder where the missing link to fulfillment can be found.

Like many other Americans, Therèse Tappouni was unhappy with the course of her life. After the end of her 36-year-long marriage and the death of her son, she knew she was entering a new phase in her life, but wasn’t yet sure where this new phase would take her. In her new book, The Promise: Revealing the Purpose of Your Soul (Synergy Books, February 2008, $19.95, 978-1-933538-97-6), Tappouni describes what she discovered: True fulfillment is not found by attaining wealth or possessions, but by discovering and fulfilling your life’s purpose.

“Most people have dreams and aspirations they develop during childhood, but abandon as they grow older,” says Tappouni, a board certified hypnotherapist. “As the pressures of daily life cause us to lose sight of our true purpose, we can often find ourselves living lives that leave us feeling unfulfilled.”

The Promise describes how each person, before they are even born, makes a commitment or promise to themselves to do their best to fulfill their individual destiny in life. The key to living a fulfilling life is discovering and realizing this destiny. Though this task can seem daunting, Tappouni says all the tools we need can be revealed through simple methods.

“Many self-help books focus on discovering the secrets of the soul,” says Tappouni. “However, the knowledge we need to fulfill our purpose is already present within us at birth, and uncovering it isn’t a secret at all. We just need to take the time to find it.”

In addition to guiding readers through the process of revealing their life’s purpose, The Promise explores topics such as:
• Why forgiveness is key to mental and spiritual health
• Coping with grief
• Accessing the clarity of your higher self
• Gaining healing through meditation
• Honoring your female ancestors
• Releasing genetic pain

Tappouni is the co-founder of the ISIS Institute and frequently conducts workshops on relationships, writing and women’s issues. She is a time dimension therapist, a somatic intuitive practitioner and the author of five previous books and a CD covering topics such as spiritual growth and the courage of women. Tappouni has been published in several literary publications and anthologies, including the Grammy-nominated Grow Old Along With Me: The Best is Yet to Be. She and her life partner, Lance, live in Indian Shores, Fla. For more information, visit www.isisinstitute.org.
